a) All individuals who are Malaysian citizens are allowed to enter the state of Sabah for the purpose of social visits.b) Individuals must be fully vaccinated.
c) There is no need to do a COVID-19 test for entry to Sabah for those who have been fully vaccinated.
d) For those who have not been vaccinated / have not been fully vaccinated / have not received the vaccine for those who are eligible (12 years and above), it is necessary to do a COVID-19 test at a certified clinic or laboratory and show a NEGATIVE test result slip upon arrival at the Sabah Entrance.

e) Teenagers aged 12 to 18 years who have received at least one (1) dose of vaccine.
f) Children under 12 years old accompanied by parents / guardians who have been fully vaccinated.
g) For individuals who cannot be vaccinated for health reasons, they need to submit a medical report that has been verified by a registered medical practitioner.

Documents Before Entering Sabah and Sarawak

There are documents required for Malaysians not born in Sabah and Sarawak when they first arrive at the airport or port in those two states.
These two documents have the same purpose, however, they differ in terms of the duration of the visit.

One for a period of 3 months and below and the other for a period of 3 months and above during visits to Sabah and Sarawak. This document is a certificate replacing the passport for Social Visit Pass (including travel) and Business Visit Pass.

This document is issued to Malaysian Citizens from Peninsular Malaysia to visit Sabah or Sarawak as an alternative to Malaysian Passports and Restricted Travel Documents.

Validity- One trip only and is considered a Social or Business Visit Pass that entitles the holder to enter and stay in Sabah or Sarawak for a period not exceeding three (3) months.

 

General Conditions- This document can be obtained at the Arrivals Hall counter of Kota Kinabalu, Sabah and Kuching, Sarawak airports. There is no charge and there is no need for the consent of the mother/father/guardian.

 

Applicant Requirements-

  • Aged 12 years and above
  • Identification card
  • Police/Military Identity Card

 

  • Under the age of 12
  • Birth certificate or
  • Adoption certificate

**Make sure this slip is not removed or left behind before leaving Sabah or Sarawak. This travel pass in the form of a slip is not available for work permits in Borneo

Limited Travel Documents

This document is issued to Malaysian citizens from Peninsular Malaysia for the purpose of travel out/in and temporary stay in Sabah and Sarawak for a period of more than 3 months.

Validity- Five (5) years from the date of issue and can be extended for another 5 years.

General Conditions- Complete the Malaysian Passport form (IM.42) which can be found at the passport office counter or downloaded through the Immigration Website for free.

The form must be downloaded and printed on A4 paper (front and back).
Photo measuring 3.5 cm x 5 cm – two (2) pieces
Existing Restricted Travel Document (if applicable)

MyKad /Military Identification Card/Police Identification Card or Temporary Identification Card (JPN.KPPK 09 or 11) for applicants over 12 years old.

Birth Certificate for applicants under 12 years old. Applicants must be present when the application is made.
Fee- RM 5.00
